Searching object parameters

Print Previous page Top page Next page

ic_8020 Map object search dialog is used in the GIS Panorama system to set the search parameters for map objects. Find/Mark of map objects is performed within the active document (window) of the system's map.

The composition of the digital map's document (the list of maps) is contained in the Map list of the Map object search window. The visible part of the Map list contains the name of the current (selected) map.

The search parameters of digital map's objects include generalized flags for search in maps and criteria for selecting objects for each document map.

The generalized flags of search apply to all maps of the document. They set the boundaries of the search for objects in maps and the visibility of digital map's objects in the document window.

When the Only visible button is enabled, in the search only the objects displayed in the map window are considered.

When the Global search button is enabled, the search is performed within all maps of the document in accordance with the search parameters of each map. Otherwise, only the objects of the current map (selected) in the Map list participate in the search.

Object Search dialog allows to set  parameters for object searching:

- map  layers and object types,

- object  classes,

- map  sheets (Nomenclatures),

- range of object IDs,

- object attributes (semantics),

- spatial object parameters (measurements).

Filter of map objects is displayed and specified on bookmarks of the Map object search window.

Contents of bookmarks are updated when the current map is changed in the Map list.

Full list of map layers, object classes, object types, object attributes is defined by Map classifier.

To set layers and object types for search you should open Object Search /Layers dialog and selects needed layers and object types in the lists by mouse.

To select object classes you should open Object Search /Objects dialog and select needed object classes in the list by mouse.

The list of objects is presented in the form of a table with columns:

"Name", "Code", "Character Code", "Key", "Type".

The ordering of the objects list by the values of elements in any column is provided.

The ordering of the objects list is performed by clicking on the column heading.

To select map sheets you should open Object Search /Sheets dialog and select/unselect map sheets in the list by mouse.

Parameters of selection of graphic objects install the order of search of the objects which are not having the descriptions in the map classifier. Possible variants of selection of graphic objects are listed in the list:

- Select all objects (all objects available in a map participate in search);

- Select draw objects only (graphic (draw) objects participate in search only);

- Do not select graphic objects (graphic objects are not checked).

For installation of search criterion of graphic objects it is necessary to choose from the list one of listed above lines.

To select nomenclature sheets, you must activate the Sheets bookmark of the Map object search dialog box and set / reset the highlight of the required rows in the map list of work region.

To set object numbers, select the "IDs" bookmark of the Map object search dialog.

When the All IDs button is used, the selection of objects by numbers is not performed when searching.

When the One IDs button is used, you must enter the value of the object number.

When the IDs range button is enabled, the minimum and maximum value of the map object number is set. Search of the objects which numbers lie within the specified range will be performed.

To set range of searching object IDs open Object Search /IDs dialog and set minimum and maximum ID of map objects.

To set criterion for object searching based on their attributes open Object Search /Semantics dialog  and set on Selected semantics option. For example if you want to search objects that have absolute elevation > 100m you need to build an expression like this

Absolute elevation > 100.

To form such expressions, use the table of objects characteristics of the Semantics bookmark consisting of columns: Semantics name, Condition, Value and Group condition.

For addition semantic name to the table you must use Add button. In the answer the dialog box Semantics will open, where choice of a semantic characteristic name is doing. On double click of the mouse or pressing Done button  highlighted string of the semantics list is recorded in Semantics Code Name pillar of a bookmark Semantics. At that  an equal sign is recorded  in Condition pillar, in Value pillar - the first value of the values classifier, if the values classifier is installed for the selected characteristic. In a case, when there are no values classifiers for selected characteristic or it is necessary to select not the first value of the classifier, the Value pillar requires editing.

Use double mouse click in Value pillar for editing semantic characteristic value. If there are no values classifiers  for a selected semantic in RSC - file the required value is entered directly in 3 pillars of the table. Press Enter key for finish of editing. Otherwise value is selected from the classifier possible values list.

In all dialogues of search where text value of semantics is entered, it is possible to use special symbols - ' * ' and '? '. The symbol ' * ' means, that in this place any character set can be.

If any symbols in the name are not known or are absent on the keyboard instead of them the question sign can be typed "?". For example, if to enter the text "No?in*" then "Novinki", "Noginsk", etc will be found.

Use double mouse click in Condition pillar for editing selection condition of Semantics bookmark, and then select required conditions from the possible condition list. The meaning of the conditions list signs are following:

! = semantic characteristic value is not equally preset;

* any given characteristic value is allowed;

< semantic characteristic value is less preset;

< = semantic characteristic value is no more preset;

= semantic characteristic value equally preset;

> semantic characteristic value is more preset;

> = semantic characteristic value is not less preset;

x any value is forbidden for given characteristic.

When you set the criteria for searching for objects by semantic characteristics, you can use the tools of combining individual semantics into groups with a single selection condition - All are true (AND) or At list one is true (OR).

This allows you to set various variants of objects search's parameters both in semantics group, and between the sets of characteristics prepared by the user.

To compose groups, you must select semantics (Shift or Ctrl plus the left mouse button), and then use the pop-up menu on the right button. Menu items provide the creation and destruction of groups of semantics.

To set selection by spatial object parameters open Object Search /Measurements dialog. Press Selected measurements button. Set type of measurement (length, perimeter, square), its value and ratio operation (condition). To set condition use Expression panel. Set condition like length < 100 in Single mode or 50 < length < 250 in Range mode.  Two table line of measurements will be used for record of a double inequality : the first string corresponds to the left part of an inequality, second - right.

Set criterions are taken into account by search only for line and area objects.

Press Find button of Object Search dialog to storage set installations.

You can use Object Search /Models dialog to create several models of object selection (set by dialogs listed above). At fist you must set search objects criteria by circumscribed above way, then press Create button (Models bookmark) and enter a model name. If in the column "Add into menu" to set "+" the specified model will be added to the list of models in the menu "Search by model". The created model is added to the models list of search (up to 256 models). Selecting this or that model from the list, you can set appropriate sort of objects search to it.

Selection models are saved once MAP 2011 session is over and restored when system starts another time.
