GIS Panorama, as well as earlier versions of GIS, provides the multiuser access to maps for viewing and editing. But it can open maps not only in a file-server mode, but also in the client-server mode.

As a server the program of GIS Server 2011 is applied to access to maps. It gives the removed access to vector maps, rasters and matrixes. Connection with a server is installed under protocol TCP \IP with use of the sockets mechanism.

At one moment of time the connection to one server is possible.

Between the client and a server the binary data are passed - coordinates of objects, attributes, data blocks of rasters and matrixes. Therefore for normal work the high-speed connection of the client and a server is required, for example, on network Ethernet 100 Mbit\sec.

Placing data on a server provides protection of data against illegal copying and change. The user chooses for work the data by their conditional names (aliases). The list of accessible data is formed the own one for each user according to the user named and to the password. Vector maps can be opened for viewing or for viewing and editing. Rasters and matrixes are accessible only to viewing and an execution of calculations. Besides, all data can be closed or opened for copying from a server - into exchange formats, into a clipboard or onto other maps.

The list of users, the list of data and their properties are stored on a server in a file of parameters of XML type. Creation and editing of a file of parameters is carried out by the manager of a server by means of the special program - GIS Manager 2011. Lists of passwords are stored in a file of parameters in the ciphered kind by MD5 algorithm.

All actions of users with data on a server are protocoled. The current status of access to data is displayed on the console of a server.
