Work region

As a rule, the cartographical material for different types and scales of maps has appropriate systems of division on nomenclature sheets.  Each sheet corresponds to exact area of the ground. It is necessary to merge somehow several paper sheets to work with them as a whole.

The merging procedure is very simple in Panorama software. You can correctly display as many as needed digital map sheets on the screen all together if they have the same scale,  map projection and coordinate system. At the same time each of them is still stored in separate file.

The collection of map sheets, needed to be processed all together is called Work region.

You can create the Work region in two ways:

- load datasets from SXF format using instruction DIR file;

- merge already existing work regions to create a new one.

Separate sheets, included to Work region, look like one map, so it is equally to work with one source map and one hundred ones. At the same time every single sheet can be processed and for example passed from one user to another separately of all other map sheets.

It allows, for example, to organize territorially distributed processing, upgrade and application of digital maps with simultaneous access to all mass data at appropriate regional centres.

Working region is necessary for execution of the joint of sheets, sewing together with a rescaling and solution of other tasks in the technology of creation and processing of digital maps.

Data files, corresponding to one Work region should be stored in one directory. It is not recommended  to place some work regions in one directory.
